TRANSFER MASTER
Transfer Master manufactures hospital beds and was looking for a product design solution that would enable beds to be shipped in smaller boxes, thus saving logistics expenses. Springboard Engineering examined the beds and came up with a unique, split frame design that allowed the bed to be shipped as two separate pieces and then easily assembled on site. Not only did this approach greatly reduce the shipping container size, but it also passed some very stringent load and rigidity requirements. The Springboard design solution was so unique that Transfer Master applied for a US patent. Springboard designed and analyzed the mechanical structure, then created CAD models and drawings. Subsequently, Springboard fabricated a prototype to demonstrate the assembly operation to the customer. The prototype was also used in verification tests, including load bearing capability.
